Dipslides
An invisible enemy is far deadlier than one you can see. Bacteria are all around us and in vast numbers. Some of these are harmless and others can cause problems to people and machinery, which can be expensive or life threatening.
The Dip slide can help unmask that invisible enemy. The Dipslide can replace the lengthy traditional methods of testing and is safe, reliable, economical and fast at giving an indication of the presence of bacteria.
A Dip slide unit consists of nutrient agars on a sampling paddle. The paddle is permanently attached to the easy to grip cap, which is contained within a clear plastic shatterproof chamber. Each box of 10 dipslides (1 pack) is batch numbered for quality control purposes.

Application:
Dip slides are ideal for monitoring microbial growth wherever the potential may exceed 1000 organisms per ml of sample fluid. We have listed below some examples of usage.
Industrial waters:
Dipslides can be used for the detection of slime forming bacteria in cooling & industrial waters, storage tanks and for evaluating biocide performance in treated systems.
Industrial Fluids:
Dipslides can be used for the detection of bacteria & moulds in metalworking fluids, paper processing waters and fuel tanks / systems.
Environmental Hygiene:
Dipslides can be used to monitor the surface contamination within domestic or institutional sites.
Leather Industry:
Dipslides can be used for the detection of spoilage organisms in hide and skin soaking liquors.
Product Information:
Our Dipslides typically come with a use by date of 6 - 9 months, dependent of manufacture cycle and type of dipslide. We would advise you that a dipslide could be used after this date as long as no contamination or visible shrinkage shows on the agar surface. We however cannot accept any responsibility for failure or wrong results if this is done.
Your Dipslides should ideally be stored at around15 degrees C; they can be stored in higher or lower temperatures if the temperature is kept from fluctuating. Dipslides should be stored in cool dry conditions, but not in a refrigerator. Every care is taken to ensure your Dipslides reach you in a perfect condition.
Prior to dispatch Dipslides are quarantined for at least 7 days at 25 degrees C. The high temperature will promote any bacteria into growth should it be present at the point of manufacture, these Dipslides would then be rejected. Every dipslide is individually checked for cosmetic damage and contamination and we are proud to offer dipslides that have typically less than a 1% failure.
Dipslides are supplied in boxes of 10 individual slides together with identification labels, user instructions and a comparator chart to quantify and interpret growth results.
Dipslides when dispatched are non-hazardous (Safety Data Sheets Available). However used & contaminated dipslides should be sterilised before disposal, or disposed of by autoclave, or incineration.
TESTING PROCEDURES:
FLUID SAMPLING
|

|

|

| |
Remove the dipslide from it tube and immerse in the liquid to be tested for about 10 seconds |
Remove the dipslide from the liquid and allow draining for a few seconds. Replace the slide in the tube and incubate for 24 – 48 hours. |
At the end of the incubation period, read the results against the chart provided with the dipslides. |
SURFACE SAMPLING
|

|

|

|

| | Remove the contact slide from its tube and press against the surface to be tested. | Turn the slide over and repeat the procedure with the second side. | Replace the slide in to the tube and incubate for 24 – 48 hours. | At the end of the incubation period, read the results against the chart provided with the dipslides. |
Slides can be removed for assessment and comparison after 24 to 48 hours for bacteria and up to 5 days for yeast and moulds. You should then use the comparator chart provided with the Dipslides to determine the approximate number of colonies. As Diagram below
Use the Comparison chart to ascertain the number of bacteria per ml.
